the perfect starting point for those looking to start a fondant cake making business from home.

The course will help students build fondant, gum paste and modelling paste skills, giving them the knowledge required to create stunning sugar paste-based projects. Most modern cakes use innovative techniques that require confidence in manoeuvring the fondant.

The HOW TO  covered during the course :

-condition, roll and cover a cake and a board with fondant, apply the ribbon

-colour the fondant using gel colours, pre-coloured fondant or air brusher 

-decorate and stack a three-tiered round cake

-decorate a square/oblong cake

-achieve sharp edges, vintage, fabric, stone, cracked, wood, lace effects

-make sugar bows, non-wired statement flowers, inlay decorations

-hand model pet and human figurines ( bride & groom, elephant, giraffe, dog, cat)

-make grass, trees, cobblestones, toadstools, pearls,

-paint on sugar using water and fat-soluble colours 

-make the glass effect using glucose and piping gel

-decorate cookies, cake pops, and cupcakes and set a candy bar

-carve( sculpt) and decorate 3 different shaped cakes :e.g. handbag, a shoe( trainer), a pet( dog)

 -the essential steps  to follow to get the cake business registered and approved( UK based students only).

Ribana, your approved instructor will discuss important topics such as:

-register your business, get your health & hygiene certificate, and get a business insurance

-choose your legal status, tax matters,

-how to price your cakes

-advertise your business based on a low budget

-start building your online reputation

-get the necessary equipment

-pick the suitable suppliers

-build a portfolio

-deliver your orders   

The online version of the course will cover all topics included in the in-class tuition.  The number of projects created and presented online will be significant increased than what we usually do in class. 

The price  you pay covers :

 1.the tuition fee ( offline recorded video and audio educational material. tutorials, pdf's to cover of all the above-described topics) 

2.the PME student kit & book( see photo attached)

3. six months of access to all printable, audio and video material ( templates, instructions and recipes) needed for baking the cakes and making the fillings, cookies, and cupcakes, which you'll then use to decorate throughout this course. Also, recipes for making your gum paste, fondant and modelling paste.

The  live sessions if any included ( this will depend on the option you choose to book yourself into ) can be booked  using the link provided after completing the enrolment.

Outside the 1-2-1 live session students will be able to interact with the instructor throughout the course's community platform(where the student will also upload the assignments and receive feedback) or by email (academyofcakedecorating@yahoo.com) asking questions whenever they need guidance. The instructor aims to reply within 24 hours.

A phone or camera will be necessary to allow students to record and submit homework. Participating students will have to video record themselves while performing their tasks and completing the homework. No audio is necessary just video recording( we recommend the use of a free app to reduce the size of the videos when submitted).Along with the videos we will also need close up photos of the final projects. Photos should be taken using a uncluttered background.

 Instructions on what to prepare as homework will be available at the end of each of the 5 chapters of the course. 

 Students should allow at least 7-8 hours of practice per week to help them :

  • watch the instructional material made available 
  • exercise to improve the skills
  • complete homework.

If the recommend practice time is used efficiently students should be able to submit the assignments and complete the training in 5 weeks.

 IMPORTANT :

* For our UK based students the delivery of the student kit and book is included in the price. Students located in Europe will have to supply their address first and have the delivery charge confirmed and agreed before booking their place. 

*Students interested in the online live tuition can opt for a variant to contain virtual interaction  through zoom meetings. Alternatively they can purchase the self study option and book separately one to one live training. Subjects covered will have to be associated with the topic of this course ( decorating with fondant, gum paste. figurine modelling, cake carving)

 * After completing the booking students will receive a link  with instructions how to use the information provided throughout the course, complete and submit assignments. They will also be able to select the dates for attending the live sessions.

*The access to the course will be granted once the booking is complete and course paid in full .

*The student kit and book will be sent out next day using the Royal mail first class service.

*Course once booked is non refundable 

* There is no time limit to submit the homework. In order to receive the certificate students will have to complete and send in the recordings for all projects (homework) to the standard required. 

 *to complete the programme you'll also have to invest in some consumables( fondants, gum paste, colours, vegetable fat, glue, dummies and real cake, boards) so you should expect to spend and extra £ 40-80  depending on the size and complexity of projects you will  create /submit.

Except a large rolling pin you will have all the required equipment to complete your assignments.
