During this one-day in-class course, students will learn how to cover a 3 tiered cake (8",6",4" round dummy cakes 5" tall) with fondant, to stack and decorate using a sugar floral spray made in class ( either roses or peonies).
The course will start at 9.30 am with a demonstration of how to make the sugar flowers and foliage needed for creating the floral display.
Your instructor Ribana will explain how to make your own floral paste, how to colour, condition and store it safely. What cutters and consumables to use to get the best results.
She'll show students how to make the 3 stages of a sugar flower: bud, small and wide-open flowers plus the required foliage.
Students will have to replicate and create their own floral elements, being guided and helped throughout the entire process by Ribana,
The class will break for a 30 min lunch at midday.
The second session of the day will start with a demonstration on how to cover, get the straight edge effect and stack the 3 tiered dummy cake using 3 different methods of covering with fondants ( a different type of fondant will be used for each tier covered).
She'll also demonstrate how to make your own fondant, how to colour, store, gain a marble effect and emboss.
Students will have to cover and stack their cakes following Ribana's guidance.
The class will continue with creating the sugar flowers sprays which will be used at the end of the course for decorating the covered tiered cakes.
Sugar flowers and foliage will be dusted for enhancing the natural look then secured with floral tape along with other decorative elements created in class.
At the end of this intensive one-day class, students will take home all their creations. Ribana's demonstrations performed during the day will be video and audio recorded and links will be sent along with the recipes used in the class. Students will have unlimited access to re-watch them if and when necessary,
This is an ALL-INCLUSIVE class, which means all you need for the course( equipment, consumables and packaging) will be provided.
Refreshments ( coffee, water, tea, fruits, biscuits) will be available for free throughout the day, lunch will not be provided.
